This should keep the monitor up and lock the keyboard and mouse until you type in your password: xlock -mode image -count 1 -bg black -fg black -geometry 0x0 -timeout 1 This wouldn't allow you to use the arrow keys, though. I'd further recommend to search in the Puppy-forums, e. There currently no patch for this, but the developers are aware of the problem and are working on it.

  81. Regards, Shivam Bhardwaj I think there is a solution on Ubuntu forums which involves a terminal operation to get full function of the touchpad. Alternatively, synclient can be used to toggle the touchpad. Cursor jump Some users have their cursor inexplicably jump around the screen.

Discussion topics include choosing a processor, installing hard drives, adding RAM, upgrading video cards, sound cards, DVD drives, Blu-ray drives, PSU, and much more. I own an HP Vista laptop -- approx. It is working nicely -- generally. The problem I am having is with the touch pad. When I got the computer, the scale on the right of the touch pad which is supposed to work like the wheel of a mouse to scroll up and down didn't work. Okay, I could live with that. Actually, after I performed a restart of the whole computer from scratch -- this actually began to work! But more recently, my left click button under my touch pad stopped working. So I have learned to tap the touch pad. But a double click hardly ever works. You might say, use a mouse. Well, you are right, usually the mouse works very nicely. But for some strange reason, the mouse also has a certain problem: so many times when dragging with the mouse to select some text, the selection jumps around. It will skip the first few letters and then select a few and them skip some more. Or it will take a few letters and actually move them to later on in the selection! And now the right click under my touch pad has stopped working -- more problems! What should I do? Preview post Submit post Cancel post Today I was setting up my laptop and grew annoyed at the mouse pad. So I disabled it so I could not accidentally hit it when selecting with the mouse. Actually this system is a tad smarter in that it has a disable pad when an external pointing device is plugged in. Since selecting with a mouse can be problematic at times I also learned to select text with the shift key. Place the cursor not the mouse one but the text cursor when I need to start, press shift and then right, left, up or down arrow to get what I want then control +X, C depending on what I want done. Bob Thank you for the bandaid. This won't solve all my problems, though. Just helps some with the selection problem at first it didn't work for me. Then I saw what you meant was keep the shift key down while using the arrow buttons. This is a little time consuming for a large selection, however But this doesn't solve my left click and right click and double click problems. I have not yet figured out the exact conditions in which it does occur, but it is linked to pinch zoom in movement with 2 fingers. On my laps, I use my left hand index finger for the left click and my right hand middle finger to move the cursor on the track pad. I never intend to do zoom in, but I think that sometime the index finger of my left hand moves or touch the track zone while I am moving my right hand middle finger from right to left. Touchpad not recognized after shutdown from Arch Certain touchpads elantech in prime will fail to be recognized as a device of any sort after a standard shutdown from Arch linux.
